This year is starting off with exciting meetings and events for us. If you haven’t heard about the Locally Grown Showcase yet, then you are missing out! But, more on that later! First we would like you to learn about Souderton High School’s SAVE (Students Against Violating the Earth) group. They joined us for our January meeting and spoke about the work they do including a new project to build a greenhouse at the high school. Current projects and events for the group are community recycling days for different items, school supply drives, nature camps for grades K-5, and raising money for environmental charities.

For February’s meeting, we will learn the history of the Detweiler Homestead Farm from Julie Detweiler Gotwals. She will also share with us the importance of buying fresh and local, which is one of the many reasons why we started the Locally Grown Showcase. We share the same goals as Julie and want our community to learn more about the fresh, local goods that are available to them.  Join us to hear more about the Detweiler Farm and RSVP to our dinner meeting at The Broad Street Grind on Feb. 26th at 6pm. Plus come by Indian Creek Foundation on March 3rd from 10am to 3pm for our big event!
